FAQ
- What is Image Spark?
- Image Spark is a creative tool that helps you collect, discover, share, tag and converge images that inspire you and your work.
- What are moodboards?
- A moodboard is a collection of images arranged on a canvas. The images can be positioned, layered and scaled using our really simple interface. You might choose to add images of colours, types, textures, objects – pretty much anything.
While their uses are entirely up to you, we think moodboards are a great way to explore and set the visual direction for your projects.
- What about copyright?
- Ownership, copyright and trademark information can be found in our Terms of Use. If you see an image that you created and you don't want it posted, don't panic! It's probably just a misunderstanding and not intended to be malicious. A good first step is to click on the "Report this Image" link on the image page. If it's something urgent you can email the support team.
- Is Image Spark reliable, secure and confidential?
- We take all reasonable precautions to keep your information safe and secure. More information can be found in our Terms of Use section.
- Can I make my images private?
- Yes. When you upload an image using one of our tools, you're given the option to make it private. This means only you can view your images when logged in to your account. If you're worried about the privacy of an image, mark it "private" at the time of upload and keep it that way. As soon as something becomes part of the public domain, it's possible for others to grab it for their own library where you won't have control of its settings.
- Can I report an image as inappropriate?
- If you come across an image that does adhere to the guidelines, you can report it by clicking on the "Report this image" link on the image page. We'll review flagged images and pull anything that doesn't reflect the guidelines. Unfortunately we can't follow up on everything that gets reported, so if you'd like a response please contact us directly.
- Which web browsers work with Image Spark?
- Any of the following Web browsers work with Image Spark: IE 7 (PC), Firefox 2 or later (Mac, PC), Safari 2 or later (Mac). Sorry, we don't support IE 6.
- Why am I limited to 1GB?
- Because it's a free, self-funded service right now and one we may extend in the future. This upgrade may be free, or may come at a cost – it's too soon to say. We just wanted to share this upfront rather than impose a limit after you sign up.
- Can I upload things that aren't mine?
- Yes, but getting permission to post these images is your responsibility. You can find out more in our Terms of Use section.
- I'm having trouble using the browser uploader.
- Sometimes your connection can timeout when trying to upload larger file sizes. You can make the file smaller by saving it as a medium quality JPG. If the file is a reasonable size (<2 MB) and you're still having trouble, please email for support.
- I'm having trouble with the Firefox Plugin.
- Until we have a proper troubleshooting section for this tool, please email us. You can help us fix the problem by including your OS and browser version, along with a description of the problem.
- I'm having trouble with the Mac Upload Application.
- Until we have a proper troubleshooting section for this tool, please email us. You can help us fix the problem by including your OS version, along with a description of the problem.
- I uploaded an image but it disappeared.
- Uploaded images should appear in your library - visit your library and sort by "newest". If you still can't find it, it's possible that someone reported it and we found it out of line with our Image Guidelines.
- I'm out of storage space, what are my options?
- As it is, each account is limited to 1GB of storage space and 2 moodboards. This is something we'll probably extend in the future, but for now you can free up space by deleting the images you no longer need. As a last resort, you might try asking us for more space — no guarantees!
- How do I add another user's image to my own library?
- If you find an image that another user has uploaded and want to add it to your own library, just hover over it and click the "+" icon. Any image you drag to a moodboard will also get added to your library.
- I found an image that doesn't abide by the guidelines, now what?
- If you come across an image that does adhere to our guidelines, you can report it by clicking on the "Report this image" link on the image page. Our editors will review the flagged images and pull anything that doesn't respect the guidelines. We can't reply to everything that gets reported, so if you'd like a response or have a question for us, please contact support directly.

- How do I create a moodboard?
- Creating a moodboard is simple. Just look to the dock at the bottom of the site and click on "moodboards". Now you have a couple options — you can either click "Create New" and proceed to name your moodboard, or simply drag an image from your library to the "Create New" area.
- How do I add images to my moodboard?

- How do I add, modify or remove images inside a moodboard?
- The dock that anchors your moodboard has two– "working images" and "all images". "All images" will display everything that makes up your library, and "working" images, just the stuff that you parked at the moodboard icon. From either view, just drag images directly to the canvas to add and place them into position.
Within the canvas, you can reorder the layers by clicking an individual image to bring it to the front. This action will also call up a variety of handles that let you to scale it (the aspect ratio is always locked), or remove it.
(Removing an image from the canvas, will not remove it from "working images". To do this, just hover over the image and click the "-" icon. Want to delete it permanently? This is managed from your image library.)
